My life as of Lately.

Before the Haunted Hay Ride Friday!

Hey, horrible picture of Matt, we're in the house so we can't even blame the sun...

I've had a quite enjoyable weekend! I hope the same for all of you! On Friday me and Matt went on a haunted hay ride with his uncle, and his brother, and his girlfriend! It was at Sandy Land Acres in Petersburg, Ky. It wasn't as scary as I thought it would be, which is good cause I'm a wimp! But oh man, the haunted house that we went through was terrifying. I almost peed myself! We went to Orange Leaf for some frozen yogurt afterwards, and then to Ihop. We had the dinner then dessert thing backwards. But oh well! All in all it was a lot of fun! I love Matt's family! I think we might all be going to Fearfest at Kings Island this Friday too, and that IS scary... Oh lawdy.

Then yesterday we hung out with an old friend that was in town for a long weekend, from college. It was good to see him, and laugh. We pretty much sat on the back porch but it was fun!

Then today we had the annual church picnic that was fun. Always good food! I mean we're Southern Baptists, so of course! Afterwards we met one of our favorite couples at the "Cheapies", our local 'Dollar Saver Cinemas' to see Ted. It was funny, could be very offensive... but it was ok. I definitely wouldn't buy it, maybe a $1.00 rent from RedBox in the future though.

But, I'm off I think I'm gonna do a whole wedding post tomorrow just for you guys! Yay!

Friday's letters.

So I'm linking up here today-
for Friday's Letters.
I love this link-up but haven't done it in forever!
So here we go...

Dear brothers and sisters, please stop being sick. I feel so bad for you. Plus if I'm being honest, which is another word for 'don't judge my selfishness, you're preventing me from seeing my fiance whose mother is pregnant.
Dear Matthew, I miss a bunch. I miss your hugs and your laugh, not the one over the phone that sounds different. Your real laugh. In a whole year this is the longest I've been away from you. It's been 2 days.
Dear Ella Bear, I'm sorry you're so itchy. Maybe if you didn't hate baths so much...
Dear sleep schedule, this needs to stop. I can't be up till 5 am every morning. It doesn't work for me.
Dear blog, I'm sorry I neglect you.
Dear cigarettes, me and you need to break it off. You're bad for me. Even though I love you, go away please.
Dear reader, I'm sorry this post makes me seem selfish, stupid, and whiny. Please forgive me.

Hope you all have a great weekend!

Two is Better than One.

He's my other half.
That's the weirdest thing about love, you think you're completely fine until you meet that one person, and then you realize that if they were taken from you, you wouldn't be whole.

"He's more myself than I am. Whatever our souls are made of, his and mine are the same."
Emily Bronte

If you're reading this you may want to jump over here, and read my back story... If you already read that, then sorry I interrupted you.
A friend of mine, the one in the picture from my post yesterday, Laney, came down with a bag of my favorite candy and a mix cd. She lives right up the street from me, and is one of the most hilarious friends I've ever had. But we had gotten in a disagreement over something, the summer before, so we hadn't been talking. But when she brought the lovely, thoughtful, little gifts down we reconnected. She invited me to go to a youth group outing with her church, to our local bowling alley. I love bowling so I couldn't say no!
So one day last January I went and hung out with her youth group, and met this guy named Matt. He was Laney's older brother Jared's best friend. {All I knew at that point.} It wasn't a love at first sight thing, I don't think we really talked. He was shy, and I was busy talking to the people that I already knew. So that was that.
Now last year, I was in a play. And there was a guy who I had previously dated, that I {for some reason} wanted to date again. He was a jerk, and not really what I needed or wanted but you know... We all have done it. Anyway he kept leading me on, and leading me on, until he just stops. He starts completely ignoring me. I obviously moved on, and I realized he didn't matter pretty fast. And the whole time I'd been hanging out pretty steadily with Laney, Jared, and Matt. It was nice cause Matt had a car, so he drove us everywhere.
I didn't know this then but Matt was actually going behind my back and asking Laney about me, about if I had a boyfriend. Which this was early enough in the summer that I was still head over heels for whats his face. So Laney told him I was kinda seeing someone, and he says he got discouraged a bit, but knew he'd treat me better so he kept pursuing.
One day I got a Facebook message from him {Still have it, is that sad?} that said, Hey, text me if you want. :)  and his number. I knew he was flirting, but figured I'd text him just cause we were friends. So we texted every now and then. But I went on a mission trip last summer, and they really didn't like our phones on. That was one whole week no talking. And the he went to North Carolina to visit his friend. Well he was working 12 hour days, and then was really busy after work so those couple weeks went by and we barely talked. But the last week of July, and first week of August my mom went to the Thirty-One conference, and a MOPS conference. Leaving me home with 3 children and no car. Yayyyy. Well Laney, who ever her boyfriend was at the time, Jared, and Matt all came over like everyday. We'd all just sit in my living room and talk. Me and Matt would talk more, he was so funny. Is... so funny... And I was so comfortable around him. One of the last nights my mom was gone, Laney and Jared both walked home, and me and Matt sat and talked. Mainly about his family, why he doesn't have a father. My family, why I didn't have a father. I just trusted him, and I could tell that he didn't judge me for it. He was so great. So now he was a really great friend, that I had a kind of big crush on. And the only reason I held back, was because I was kinda afraid that if we ever split, then our little friendship circle would be ruined. Worth the risk. SO worth the risk.
The Gang! From left, Matt, me, Laney, and Jared.
He kept trying to reel me in, took me to the fair, which is my FAVORITE place in the entire world. And bought me roasted corn, from this local farmer, that has this giganto corn roaster, that produces the most wonderful, buttery, salty, tasting corn on the cob in the universe. No lie guys. A little later in August he even asked me to go to the mall with him to get Laney a birthday present, cause he needed help. Later he confessed to wanting to go out, with only me, and he didn't really need help. He was sneaky.
Probably within the second week of the month he asked if I wanted to be his girlfriend, which I, kind of meanly, said no. Because I though he should take me out on a proper date before it was made official. And I wanted a real date. Cause not that dinner and movies are bad... but not my ideal first date material. Dinner's awkward, can't talk during the movie. No fun.
On August 19th, after hanging out all day he finally had to leave so I was walking him out to his car, and we stood in the street kinda dancing. and he pulled me in and kissed me. And oh my butterflies. And blushing. And standing in the driveway till the blood came out of my cheeks so I could casually walk past my mom, who was sitting on the front porch, {behind a bush, so she didn't see the kiss. Not that it would have mattered, but I'm not to big in the PDA.}
The very next day was Laney's surprise party, and afterwards, at 11:51 pm, we decided to go ahead and make it official. Which was horrible timing cause with it being almost the next day we couldn't decided if our anniversary date would be the 20th or 21st. Finally decided the 20th. After 4 months.
We've literally been inseparable since that last week of July. I could bore you for days with a bunch of great memories. I think I'll save how he told me he loved me for a different post. It was cute.
On Black Friday though, Matt went out and got my engagement ring, which was supposed to be my Christmas present, but he got so excited he proposed on Monday, November 28th.
It was a Monday, which is co-op Monday, and I had been up so late the night before and awake by 8 I was falling asleep sitting up. I had gone down to his house to hang out, but as I was so tired he drove me home. And after he got me up out of his car, {I didn't wanna move} he dragged me to the end of the driveway, where a little over 3 months before he had first kissed me and asked me how much I loved him. Note: I was so tired, NONE of this was registering. No red flag, nothing. I replied to him, with 'More than anything. Why?' And he pulled out the ring.
Right after! Not so tired afterwards, haha.
Better view!
And there you have it. Our love story.
Oh, the title is the name of our song. You should go check it out on youtube.
Have a lovely day friends. Sorry for the super duper long post AGAIN today!

Oh dear...

Who is that attractive man with straight teeth? Oh ya, that's my fiance!

Today was a big day, Matt got his braces off... finally! But look how cute he is! We had an awesome mini-road trip down to Versailles, Kentucky. If you ignore the speeding ticket... his not mine! Oh well, live and you learn. Versailles though, is one cute town! I was talking about moving down there the entire time. Told Matt I'm open up a little candy store, or soda shop right on the main strip. He could have his garage to work on cars. It'd be perfect! Unfortunately I'm not big on living far from home. I could... and I don't get homesick, but  I would just prefer not to be to far from family.
Then we hung out with an old friend, you could say, who I love dearly no matter how much we go through.Got to go hang out at the mall, go shopping. Look at this dress Matt spoiled me with:

There's a gold sequined ban in the middle. Oh my gosh I was speechless when I saw it! Love at first sight. (:
I also got another dress and a shirt. All in all he spent about $38 on me! Which I'm not gonna lie, is a lot for clothes. Even if I got 2 & 1/2 outfits.
Oh rack up another $5 on that total, cause he ordered that devotional I told you all about a few posts back! I can not wait to start that!

Last night my mom also picked up Just Dance 2. Which, um, I must say is the funnest thing on the planet. Cause funnest is clearly a word... But you know what I mean. Me and Matt were playing and he is such a goof ball. And then me and mom were battling it out tonight, also quite amusing!

But my entire day. The whole thing. Was laughing.
And boy do I love laughing.

To Sweet.

My pink roses. Delivered by Matt to school yesterday. (:
I was at co-op yesterday and about 11:35 I looked outside and saw that Matt was in the parking lot. I was expecting him to get me lunch. (Mom didn't pack me anything and I'm just not that productive in the morning. Especially with as little sleep as I got Sunday night/ Monday morning, but we won't talk about that...) So I get excused from my class and run out to get my Mickey D's and instead he hands me flowers. Beautiful pink roses. And then he hands me Reese's. And not just Reese's...

Crazy hair...

Reese's Eggs. <3 My most favorite Reese's of all. I just think they taste better. He brought me a whole bag of them. Then he handed me my Sweet Tea no ice, french fries and a hamburger.

Not so cute story: I'm spoiled, I like my tea with no ice cause cold hurts my teeth. And they overfill cups with ice now so you barely get any drink. I'm not wasting money for one drink and ice. I spilled half my fries. ): And it had been forever and ever that I had a hamburger from there and it wasn't as good as I remembered. I usually get chicken nuggets, but I heard a gross story of how those yummy little nuggets get produced. I'm just gonna steer clear of them... for ever.
Not trying to sound like a brat. Just a review of my McDonald's experience. And being honest about my day.

Moral of this post though...
Matt was so thoughtful and sweet. It made my whole day. (:

Hello, hello, hello!

Well I would have to say my new year is starting off fairly well. Wishing the same for everyone. And also that this year is blessed, and enjoyable through ALL of life's situations.
I have gotten to enjoy a couple nights out with Matt. We're coming up on 6 months, and its shocking, that its been this long, but also that it feels like so, so much longer. We really started hanging out at the beginning of August. And it took off from there. I'll have to get into our whole 'how we met and started dating' story later. But from at least August 18th, we've been inseparable. In this whole 6 months there may, at the very most, be a whole 7 days in which we have completely not seen each other. And that's just here and there. That's a lot of time. Truthfully though, I wouldn't give up a second of that time, I love every single moment of it. (Yes, even when we're disagreeing about something.)
But last Wednesday, the 11th, we went to church at Cornerstone Baptist for a wonderful time, and then went out to Barnes and Noble! I love books. Love. Matt... well not so much. He's stepped in a library only a handful of times, where I was there that much in one week growing up. I read, and I reread. But I got a gift card for Christmas, along with a Starbucks card! Where there's another gift card match so perfectly matched I  know not of. Nor am I willing to search, seeing as I am content with this pair. To get Matt in the bookstore though I had to bribe him with a Caramel Brulee Latte, even though once in there he was perfectly content looking through Nirvana books...
Horrible picture. ): I  know, and I'm sorry. He wasn't purposefully doing this either. I thought I took a different picture, my phone even made the noise, but it wasn't there. I realized this too late. He offered to go back and redo it, (Love him!!) but I was more intent on getting coffee.
I even found a book there, that I shall be getting shortly... called Night Light by Dr. James Dobson. Yes, I realize I told you I had a gift card to Barnes and Noble, but it's only for $25, and the book is $23.99! So sadly I would have $0 after one book. I was not going to do that to myself. So I went home and found it on Amazon, (in link) for around $3.00!! Much better, I think. It's just a devotional for couples, I loved it though, and Matt agreed to do any devotional I wanted. That makes for a happy Leah. Can't wait to get it in!

Ohhh, and I skipped ahead a little bit, cause last Sunday, the 8th, me and Elizabeth went to Trader's World. Which is a huge, mostly indoor, flea market in Ohio.
Don't ask me what I'm doing here...  But see! Shorts in January!
And I found the most vintage-y, beautiful, amazing cabinet for mine and Matt's future apartment.

I LOVE this thing. And the old guy selling it to be was a doll. I adored him, I walked up to it and he walked up and said to me its $40 but I'll give it to you for $30. He even agreed to saving it for me till I could get Matt up there with a truck. He showed me right where he was keeping it, said I might not be here if it's snowing, I'll be on vacation if that happens. But you just come right back here and get it. And now its mine! I'm in love! I think I know right where she's going too. (:

Matt was off yesterday, and like I mentioned in my last blog, (which was over a week ago... /: Sorry bout that...) I was going to look at an animal shelter for a puppy. And we did, at the Kenton County Animal Shelter. I just happened to find the sweetest doggy there.
Her name is Flopsy! She's a 4 year old Shih Tzu!
And oh my goodness friends, she is absolutely the cutest, sweetest dog I have ever met. I don't have her with me, and that means she's not officially mine. But we have to make sure the cats we have are up to date on their rabies shots. Which is what we're doing tomorrow. Then on Tuesday morning, me and Matt are getting up there right at 10:30 when they open to guarantee she's mine. Show them the rabies shots papers and sign the papers. Sadly even after that I'll have to go back Wednesday to bring her home for good, she has to get spayed. ): poor dog. It'll be worth the wait though. I literally looked all through the kennel and she was one of the last I looked at, but she caught my eye so I went back to her. When I walked up she walked right up to me, so I bent down, and stuck my hand in the fence and began to pet her. She just looked right up at me, pushed her head into my hand and sat there. I looked at my mom and Matt, and said, 'This is her. This is my dog. I want this one.' She just stuck out to me. And to tell you the truth almost none of the other dogs would let me pet them! I was like Uh! Do I smell bad to them?? Usually animals are all over me, I love them they love me... (Cue Barney theme song...) but no! So I think that made it even better that she just let me pet her and pet her.
When we were going over adoption stuff I got to hold her in my lap, and she'd just look around and occasionally shed just look up at me, and hold my stare, and then lay her head down. It was meant to be. (: Except I was so heart broken when the lady there took her from me so we could leave. So, so heartbroken. But I'll make it up to her by buying her a bunch of treats on Wednesday!

Oh and plus yesterday was fantastic after that too. Me and Matt went and got my counter, went to an out-door mall. Which we did not stay at long. Talk about freezing! And I even had pants on! We rode back got a couple coffees, checked in at my house, and went down to his for some family time. We watched Just Go With It, such a cute movie, and happened to get snowed in. So his adorable face was what woke me up this morning. (As I was getting crawled across so he could watch tv...)

So after 1 1/2 hours of blogging I think I'm ready to hit the sack, I might post another something here real fast though. I dunno...
Goodnight. (:

Merry Christmas to all, and to all a good night!

It's nearly 2 pm on Christmas Day, and I am practically done. My grandma is the only one I have not seen yet today. But she'll be by later.
I made out, as my Tappaw would say, like a bandit. (: In other words I had a stinkin good Christmas! This year, by far was better than the last 2 years. Which I'm very happy for. Matt knew that the past couple years have been hard for me and told me this would be my best December. He may have been right. I was absolutely spoiled by Matt's family! I only felt bad I wasn't able to buy them all something back! Next year...
These boots are from Mamaw and Poppie, Matts Grandparents. (: I LOVE them, they've welcomed me in as their own grandkid after 5 months and it's wonderful. I love these boots too, super duper comfy. I'm sitting on my couch and still have them on.
The picture way above is of me and Matt, last night after the family opened all the presents. I'm a very cheap person and as a kid I hardly ever got name brand clothes. It was like Wal-mart, Kohls, odd hand-me downs.... This year I got spoiled. Matts mom, Valerie, her boyfriend Jon, and his little brother, (whom I adore!), Jordan got me the sweat pants and sweatshirts from Aeropostale you see. Underneath I have a pretty purple Aero shirt and polka dot socks from his Uncle Allen.
Along with 8 other pairs... Socks, useful, and wonderful.
I am genuinely blessed. With gifts today, with my fiance, with my fiances amazing family! And that doesn't even begin to go into what I got today. A pair of moccasins, I like my shoes, not as much as some girls, but ya, I like em. Well fairly all the shoes I own have holes in them. So mom and Mamaw got me new shoes! Yay! I also have a couple gift cards I can't wait to use. I got a waffle maker, last night Matt got a blender, today I got a laptop, and today Matt also got a 37 inch tv. Now we just need to get our Apartment renovated and get married. But I'll worry about that a different day... (:

Ohhhhh. And not to mention a gift I got the other day...
This hat came from my best friend Elizabeth! Love her! Love this hat! Its sooo super soft. And warm! Check out her blog here...

So, so overwhelmed, happy, blessed. I sincerly hope everyone else is having just as good of a day.
What did you get this year? Anything you ddn't get that was on your wishlist?
